North District Infant Developmental Center

1.The Establishment

The North-District Infant Developmental Center officially came into being on the 6th of February, 1998, with the Bethlehem Foundation being entrusted by the Tainan County government to run the center.

 

2.Service Target: Children under the age of 6 and their parents.

      (1)Early treatment: Assist children under the age of 3 with developmental delays, mental and physical disabilities.

      (2)Once a week for 80 minutes each time provide education and rehabilitation for children under the age of 3 with developmental delays, mental and physical disabilities either in the Center or at home.

      (3)Kindergarten Program:  Provide 80 minutes of education to children with a developmental delay who are registered in neighboring kindergartens or nursery schools.

      (4)Day program:  Inclusive educational program for children ages 3 to 6 at the center five days a week.  

      (5)Parental education: Provide parents opportunities to learn how to educate their children at home.

3.Charge:

 Our service charges for children who have a handicapped booklet are based upon the payment standards issued by the Ministry of Interior.  For those children who only have a certificate from a major hospital that their child has a developmental delay, there is no charge for the 80 minute program and a minimal charge for lunch and snacks for those children in our full day program.

4.Service

      (1)Team evaluation: Prior to entering the school, each child’s current development and special needs will be evaluated by our professionals. Parents, the director, social worker, teachers and physical therapist and occupational therapist will all participate in the assessment process, and propose suggestions for teaching and rehabilitation.

      (2)Teaching

           A.Instructions are conducted by adaptive model.

           B.Our goal is to realize a normalized and functionalized education.

           C.Our core principle is to teach children based on their living 

               experiences.

            D.Learning activities are conducted through team work and 

               individual instruction.

            E.Our activities are mainly theme-based activities.

5.Our Characteristics

      (1) We enrich children’s living experiences.

      (2) Our learning environment is spacious and natural.

      (3) We emphasize humanitarian spirits and parental education.

      (4) We provide services to each child in accordance with his or her 

           ability and needs.

      (5) We design an individualized educational plan (IEP) to suit each 

           child’s need.
